Different Cuts

   PlainsawnQuatersawn, or Riftsawn.

Plainsawn is the most common cut. The board contains more variation the other two cuts because grain patterns from the growth rings are more obvious.

Quatersawn produces less board foot per long than Plainsawn and is therefore more expensive. Quatersawn products woods twists and cups less and wear more evenly.

Riftsawn is similar to Quatersawing but the cut is made slightly on a different angle.
